Forest Fridays are wild. It's our time to reconnect with the landscape that informs the DNA in our every cell. Rocks are hopped. Trees are climbed, The sky is witness to our joy. We play games that connect us to nature, as much as they connect us to each other. We learn what it means to rely upon one another. We become a tribe. Fridays are everybody's favorite, naturally.
On Forest Fridays we practice the ways of the naturalist. We observe. We channel John Muir. We learn to see the crystals in the sandstone, measure lichen surface area on rocks for relative dating, survey insects and note evolution's inordinate fondness for beetles . We learn which plants are edible, and which animals too. Life is honored. Hides may yet be processed.
Just as is with all days at RTS, Forest Fridays follow the cycle of intention, action, reflection. After long days that challenge us to stretch comfort zones and trust deeply, we close in circle, honoring the deep connections and joyful interactions with reflection in the way of council.
